Passports to Fun!

Snag amusement park passes for your family this month and you can write “fun” on the calendar for the rest of 2012! Now’s the time to buy: many attractions are offering special deals just for locals.

Disneyland
The Magic Kingdom offers four different annual passports, from $499 to $199 per person. (You’ll see the difference in blackout dates, dining and merchandise discounts and whether parking’s included.) Give them your Southern California zip code as proof of residency, and you can pay monthly (with an $80 down payment). Two-day SoCal Park Hopper Tickets, for Disneyland and California Adventure, are also on sale for $99, good through June 1, 2012.

Legoland California
You can also take advantage of easy monthly payments with a Membership PLUS from Legoland California. Sign up in person at the Guest Services window to have monthly payments ($13.95 for grown-ups and $10.95 for kids 2-12) charged to your credit card. (Call if you want to cancel after 12 months or you’ll continue to be billed monthly.) Membership PLUS comes with free parking, unlimited admission, special discounts and more.

Six Flags
Now through Sunday, Jan. 29, if you buy four Six Flags Thrill Passes, you’ll get a free upgrade to Combo Passes, with free parking and free admission to Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor all year long! (Buy on-line and then show your ID at the park by Jan. 29 to get your parking pass.) Valid at all 13 Six Flags theme parks, the passes come with free tickets for friends on select days, $300 in food and souvenir coupons, and a seat on the Lex Luthor 400-foot-high Drop of Doom, opening this spring. Each one’s $61.99, or you can pay in three installments.

Universal Studios
Southern California residents can buy a day at Universal Studios Hollywood right now and get free admission for the rest of 2012. The deal is $77.99 for ages three and up, or pay $104.99 to avoid blackout dates. You can also get a one-day parking pass or an all-you-can-eat pass, good for one-day use through May 24, 2012.

Knott’s
One of the best deals in town is a season pass at Knott’s Berry Farm. Just $64.99 gets you a full year at the park, with no blackout dates, valid through Dec. 31, 2012. (Kids two and under are free.) Upgrade to a gold or platinum pass for extra perks, including admission to all three Soak City Water Parks.

And don’t forget the long list of local aquariums, zoos and museums that offer annual memberships. Your dollars help these attractions thrive while you keep your kids entertained.
