Who hasn’t spent a leisurely afternoon wandering through IKEA, sighing over the sleek roomscapes, testing out the couches and sampling Swedish meatballs? Now there’s even more to love!

IKEA Costa Mesa is offering free kids’ birthday parties from 4-6 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month. Tapped out of party ideas (and cash)? This might be just the thing!

Each birthday kid (age 10 and under, please) can invite two friends and a parent to enjoy a children’s entertainer, soda, birthday cake and a special gift from IKEA.

Upcoming dates include Febrary 8, March 14, April 11, May 9, June 13, July 11, August 8, September 12, October 10, November 14 and December 12.

Call (714) 751-7167, ext. 1470, at least a week in advance to reserve your spot and then meet up with the group in the IKEA Restaurant and Cafe.

(Little-known fact: the restaurant also offers off-site catering for groups big and small.)
